VR Films by Bruno Masi

“THERE IS NO ART WHICH MUST, MORE THAN THE THEATRE, BRING TOGETHER ILLUSION AND REALITY”  JEAN VILAR

Bringing together illusion and reality. That is what is on offer with virtual reality whose specificities, from both a technical and narrative standpoint, raise many questions and create new challenges.

Histoires d’espaces, season 2, offers 4 shorts in stereoscopic VR produced with shows in mind that were presented at the Avignon and Aix en Provence Festivals in 2017.  These four works offer the opportunity of bringing together directors, playwrights, choreographs, musicians or visual artists to question and explore virtual reality in comparison to live productions.

In this film, Bruno Masi revisits the mental landscapes that punctuate the imagination of renowned choreographer Philippe Decouflé, from 1950s cinema to Alwin Nikolais’ magnificent dance routines.
