Pakoko, a Chief in the Marquesas

3min30 - A film by Bérénice Meinsohn

Within the framework of the exhibition “Matahoata, Arts and Society in the Marquesas Islands” (April to July 2016) at the Musée Quai Branly, Bérénice Meinsohn directed one of the exhibition’s films.

From Gauguin to Brel, from Stevenson to Melville, the greatest of artists have fallen under the charm of the Marquesas Islands. The exhibition pays a tribute to them with 300 pieces and works that bear witness to the strength of a culture that has come down through the ages and tamed history itself.
